Oklahoma City, OK – December 1, 2008 – The NRHA Open Futurity second go, first section, got underway Monday at Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Tioga, Texas‘ Tim McQuay made a splash in the Prime Time Open Division by wrapping up the top three positions in the first go-round standings. He continued his high-scoring ways with Carol Rose’s Shining N Sassy and set the pace in the second go-round with a 221.5 for the highest score thus far in the Open and Prime Time Divisions. The duo’s composite scores also took the lead in the Open Futurity and Prime Time Open Division standings with a 441.

Gorgeous Like A Star (Smart Like Juice x Hustle Up A Star) and Craig Schmersal marked a 220.5 for owner Greg Hill of Huron, Ohio to come in second for the day in the Open Division. Spark N Whiz (Shining Spark x Mizzen Topsail) and Duane Latimer of Big Fork, Montana, currently rank second in the Open Futurity composite standings with a 440.5. Arcese Quarter Horses USA of Weatherford, Texas owns the three-year-old.

In Monday’s Intermediate Open Division, Electric Code and Jared Leclair put together another solid run for a 219. They earned the high score of the day and first in the composite standings for the Intermediate Open Division. L and D Partnership of Pilot Point, Texas owns the Jacs Electric Spark stallion who has a 436.5 for his composite score. Clinton Anderson’s Shesa Fashion Chic (Smart Chic Olena x Miss Fashion Feet) and Todd Wright were second for the day with a 217.5 and second in the composite with a 431.

New leaders emerged in the Limited Open Division when Got Wimpys Mark (Wimpys Little Step x Gotta Marker Parker) and Trevor Dare took the lead in the go-round with a 216. They finished the day with second in the composite standings with a 424.5. Got Wimpys Mark is owned by Alberto Sarquis of Puerta De Hierro, Mexico. Also moving into contention for the finals cut with a 215 were Ken and Margaret Johnson’s Mambos Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Cindy Mambo) and Brazil’s Roberto Jou. Randall Dooley and Miss Smokin Rose currently sit first in the composite with a 426.

In the composite standings for the Prime Time Division, Mike Boyle and Barbi Boyle’s Wimpys Cody Cee (Wimpys Little Step x Cody Cee Cutter) are currently second with a 420. Saint Nic It (Nic It In The Bud x Shining Smartly), owned by Bahn Quarter Horses, LLC, and Brent Wright earned a 220 to place second thus far in the second go-round in the Open Prime Time standings.

Jennifer Easton’s Tricked Out (West Coast Whiz x Miss Trickynic) and Brian Welman slid into today’s lead in the Open Gelding Incentive Division with a score of 215. Easton is from St, Marys Point, Minnesota. Right behind with a 213, Get R Done Chic (Smart Chic Olena x Eyed Be A Princess) and Carol Metcalf finished second in today’s standings for Clinton Anderson of Stephenville, Texas. Get R Done Chic’s half-sister Shiny Hot Pants, also out of Eyed Be Princess, stands 11th in the composite scores with a 435. The day ended in a three-way tie for the lead in the composite standings: Oh Yes Oh Jay and Dan Huss; Get R Done Chic and Metcalf; and Tricked Out and Welman. They each have a 422.5.
