11.29.08 - NRHA OPEN FUTURITY HAS A NEW LEADER

Oklahoma City, OK – November 29, 2008 – The 2008 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show moved into its third day on Saturday, November 29. The pressure continued to build for the competition to take down the top scores in the NRHA Open Futurity that were posted on Thursday. Shiner Olena and Andrea Fappani stepped up to the plate and took the lead with a 222.5

Fappani of San Marcos, California is an NRHA Professional and NRHA One Million Dollar Rider. He rode the palomino stallion Shiner Olena (Smart Chic Olena x Miss Shiner Dear) who is owned by Wagonhound Land & Livestock from Douglas, Wyoming. Chics Blazin Spark & Craig Schmersal and Shiny Hot Pants & Todd Crawford were moved to a tie for second with a score of 221.5 with Fappani’s score.

The leader in the Intermediate Open Division remains the same - Shiners Chic and Brad Giesbrecht with a 220. Rosanne Sternberg of Aubrey, Texas owns the Smart Chic Olena gelding. The team of Magnum With A Dream (Magnum Chic Dream x Shine On Sayo) and owner Josh Visser of Whitesboro, Texas scored a 218.5 yesterday. Their scored keeps them second place in the Intermediate Open standings.

The Great Tag (Whiz N Tag Chex x Pines BH) and Cody Sapergia marked a 220 to tie Shiners Chic and Giesbrecht for the lead in the Open Gelding Incentive Division. The Great Tag is owned by NRHA’s first One Million Dollar Owner Lance Griffin. Rider Cody Sapergia is from Ardmore, Oklahoma.

A Cowgirls Money (Major Vaquero x Jesses Money) and Sebastian Petroll still lead the Limited Open Division with a 213 for owner Charles Stinner. Miss Smokin Rose (Topsail Whiz x Glendas A Smokingun) and Randall Dooley are right behind with a 212.

Tim McQuay and his three mounts continue to lead the Open Prime Time competition. Tim McQuay rode the top three scoring horses in the standings with Jerry Kimmel’s Check Your Gun Lady (Dun Gotta Gun x Cee Blair Lady) and A Ruf Master (Lil Ruf Peppy x Shiners Mistress) tied for first with a 220. Carol Rose’s Shining And Sassy (Shining Spark x Sassy O Lena) and McQuay were right behind with the 219.5 that they scored yesterday. McQuay is from Tioga, Texas.
