03.13.08 - Expert Training for Reiners of all Ages at NRHyA Regional Clinics

Oklahoma City, OK – March 13, 2008 – It’s a program that benefits members of the National Reining Horse Youth Association (NRHyA) as well as reiners of any age who want to learn from some of the best trainers in the business. The NRHyA Regional Clinics provide a unique opportunity to work with many NRHA Professionals who have graciously donated their time to the Youth program.

The 2008 Regional Clinics are set to begin in April. This is the third year the NRHyA has organized the clinics. They’re designed to help anyone who is interested in reining horses learn more about the business and also about the NRHA. From green as grass beginners to accomplished riders, there is something for everyone to benefit from within each clinic. The one-on-one training that participants receive is tailored to each individual’s needs.

Chair of the NRHA Youth Committee Walter Fuchs is encouraged because this year the program is going global. “The Regional Clinics have grown a great deal since the inception of the program in 2006. That year, the NRHyA hosted one clinic, but in 2007, five clinics were held across the country. The program is looking to grow even more this year by also hosting a European clinic.” Fuchs continued, “We are working very hard to raise money for the youth program as well as educate people around the world about Reining.” In 2007, the Regional Clinic series raised about $20,000 for the NRHyA.

The 2008 NRHyA Regional Clinics begin April 26th and April 27th. The South Central Regional Clinic will be held in Aubrey, Texas, at Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses. NRHA Professionals Tom McCutcheon and Dell Hendricks will be conducting the clinics both days.

The Northeast Regional Clinic will also be held April 26th and April 27th at the Morrisville State College in Morrisville, NY. NRHA Professional Shawn Flarida will provide instruction on both days of the clinic.

For those reiners living in the North Central region, a clinic will be held May 24th and May 25th. NRHA Professionals Tim McQuay and Brian Welman will provide their expertise on both days at the University of Wisconsin River Falls in River Falls, WI.

In July, the NRHyA Regional Clinics will head to Williamston, NC. The Southeast Regional Clinic will be held July 9th at the Senator Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center. The clinic will be conducted by NRHA Professionals Bryant Pace and Francois Gauthier along with reining trainer Mark Arballo.

Details on the Northwest Regional Clinic are still being worked out, but NRHA Professional Todd Bergen will be lending his expertise to clinic attendees. The date and location have yet to be determined.

The final NRHyA Regional Clinic will be held October 11th and October 12th at the Outwest Stallion Station in Scottsdale, AZ. NRHA Professionals Randy Paul and Matt Mills will provide their training tips to participants in the Southwest Region.

Space is limited so sign up as soon as possible. The cost per day is $150 for youth riders and $200 for adults. For more information or to register for a clinic, please contact Supervisor of Youth Programs Jill Worthington at 405-946-7400 ext. 130 or jworthington@nrha.com.
