Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – October 17, 2007 - You can always count on the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) to come up with something unique to entertain an audience while benefiting a good cause! This time the RHSF has definitely outdone itself with 4R Performance Horses “8” Second Celebrity Slide! The location is Oklahoma City; the venue is the NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show. Competing will be some of the world’s greatest bull riders who’ve taken time from their busy schedules to help some of their most ardent fans - the children from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma, the local chapter of the premier wish-granting organization for children.Bull riding celebrities J.W. Hart, Justin McBride, Cord McCoy, Ross Coleman, Matt Bohon, Rob Smets, Paulo Crimber, Cody Lambert and Ednei Caminhas will trade their flak jackets for reiner finery to test their skills on champion reining horses. Used to settling down on a ton of pent-up T N T they’ll be aboard equally explosive, though more controllable, dynamos – reining horses, arguably some of the premier athletes of the equine world. Bull riding fans will recognize Randy Schmutz’ familiar voice from the announcer’s booth as he provides color commentary for the celebrity event.
Moving out-of-their-comfort-zone, the celebrity competitors will get a crash course in the sport from some of the best reiners in the world - NRHA Two Million Dollar Riders Tim McQuay and Shawn Flarida; Million Dollar Riders Dell Hendricks, Craig Schmersal, and Tom and Mandy McCutcheon; NRHA Professional Casey Hinton and trainers Tim Lynch and Tom St. Hilaire. Assisting will be their young friends from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma, serving as honorary coaches.
Tickets for the “8” Second Slide are $8 and can be purchased through tickets.com or at the door. Children 12 & under are free with a canned food donation to benefit the Oklahoma City Food Bank.
Avid bull riding fans who want a chance to meet their favorite bull rider “up close and personal” can attend a VIP Reception at the conclusion of the competition. Tickets to the VIP event may be purchased from the Foundation through RHSF Coordinator Heather Cline for $100 each (limited tickets available).
So, get ready for a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat event and join us for an evening of excitement and help make some worthy youngsters “wishes come true”. Mark your calendar for the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 24th, at the Oklahoma Fairgrounds beginning at 5:00 pm! There’ll be opportunities for autographs and photographs, so come prepared.
