07.06.07 - New RHSF Rookie Day Presented by Classic Equine Added to Lineup

The Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) has added another outstanding location to host a Rookie Day presented by Classic Equine. The brand new Rookie Day is scheduled for September 15 in Katy, Texas and will be held at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center. There will be lots of prizes awarded featuring custom belt buckles from Gist for the Champion and Reserve Champion and other awards from Classic Equine as well as many donated by local businesses. There will also be special drawings throughout the day for all Rookie Day riders and a special class and awards for youth riders.

Rookie Day presented by Classic Equine is a one day event that gives rookies a chance to learn from reining horse trainers including many NRHA Professionals. The rookie riders are then given the chance to compete against the other rookies.

During Rookie Day, beginning reiners learn the ins and outs of reining in a comfortable, relaxed setting that focuses on having fun. Rookie Day Coordinator Tracy Lynch says, “Rookie Day promotes Reining at the grassroots level and encourages new members to become more familiar with NRHA competition.â€

Each Rookie Day costs $175 for adults and $100 for youth riders. All proceeds from Rookie Day benefit the RHSF Crisis Fund. The Crisis Fund helps reiners who have suffered a tragedy get back on their feet.

So far in 2007, there have been four very successful Rookie Day events across the country. The remaining two Rookie Days will be held July 14 in Ardmore, OK, and September 15 in Katy, TX.

In Ardmore, riders can look forward to one-on-one training from professionals Clint Haverty, Kim Ferguson, Shelly Ries, Tim Lynch, John Horn, Terri Fox, Abby Boyd, Andy Johnson and Ann Salmon. If you’d like more information about the Ardmore Rookie Day event, contact Tracy Lynch at 580-277-9006.

The Rookie Day at the Great Southwest Equestrian Center in Katy will feature a long list of NRHA Professionals and other reining horse trainers. Featured trainers include Steve Archer, Casey Deary, Ken Eppers, Todd Martin, Nathan Piper, Patty Brownshadel, Craig Johnson, John O’Hara, Justin Mathison, Kyle Schurig, and Ryan Potucek. For more information or to register for the Katy Rookie Day event, contact Terri Bishop at 512-296-0951 or email at terribishop@hotmail.com. Space is limited so reserve your spot today.

Rookie Day presented by Classic Equine is a wonderful chance to meet other reiners, their families, NRHA Professionals and affiliates ready to welcome you with open arms. You’ll experience the giving spirit of the NRHA family.
