06.20.07 - The Sport of Reining Featured on “The 2010 Countdown Show”

The sport of Reining and the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) will be featured this Sunday, June 24, on “The 2010 Countdown Show.” It’s a new weekly radio show spotlighting the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) scheduled for September 25 to October 10, 2010, at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY. The radio show was launched last month by the organizers of the WEG, The World Games 2010 Foundation, Inc. along with Clear Channel Broadcasting.

Each Sunday, “The 2010 Countdown Show” focuses on a range of equestrian sport issues especially those dealing with the planning for the 2010 Games. Jack Kelly, CEO of the Foundation, hosts the weekly program and features each discipline and other various aspects of preparing for the 16-day competition. Kelly said, “The 2010 Countdown Show” is a fun and engaging way to keep the public informed on planning for the Games as well as many other related areas, and we appreciate the opportunity for the partnership with Clear Channel.”

During the June 24th broadcast, NRHA Executive Director Dan Wall will be one of the featured guests along with several top Reining athletes and the 2010 Reining Discipline Manager Brad Ettleman. Wall said, “We’re looking forward to the worldwide exposure the 2010 World Equestrian Games will bring to the sport of Reining. It’s the only western discipline to participate in the World Games and we love to showcase our exciting sport.” He continued, “This Sunday, we are looking forward to helping listeners visualize what they’ll see during the Reining competition at the World Games.”

“The 2010 Countdown Show” will air this Sunday, June 24 from noon to 1:00 p.m. ET on 630 AM WLAP in Lexington, KY. The broadcast can also be heard via streaming audio at www.feigames2010.org or directly from WLAP’s site at www.wlap.com.

The World Games 2010 Foundation is the organization responsible for planning and executing the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The Games are the world championships of the eight equestrian disciplines recognized by the FEI and are held every four years.

The World Equestrian Games have never before been held outside of Europe; nor have all eight disciplines ever previously been held together at a single site— both firsts that will be achieved at the Kentucky Horse Park. The 2010 Games are expected to have a statewide economic impact of $150 million. It is anticipated that more than 600,000 spectators will attend the 16-day competition.
