12.19.06 - NRHA’s Tim McQuay & Mister Nicadual Receive Prestigious Honors

The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) is proud to announce NRHA’s first Two Million Dollar Rider Tim McQuay and the horse he rode in the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Aachen, Germany, have both been nominated for prestigious honors.

McQuay has been chosen as a 2006 United States Equestrian Federation® (USEF) Equestrian of Honor. McQuay is the only reiner among eight honorees now in the running for USEF Equestrian of the Year. The horse McQuay rode in the 2006 WEG, Mister Nicadual, is in the running for the Farnam®/ Platform™ • 2006 USEF Horse of the Year. Mister Nicadual, owned by Jerry Kimmel, is one of five finalists nominated. The equestrian and horse receiving the most votes will be selected as the 2006 USEF Equestrian of the Year and 2006 USEF Horse of the Year.

At the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany, McQuay turned out a breathtaking and stunning performance. For his second round, vying for the individual medal, McQuay rode Mister Nicadual to an almost perfect round. Before the score was announced, McQuay entertained the crowd by dismounting in the show ring and celebrated the exceptional run by performing a jig. When the score of 230 was announced, McQuay added the Individual Silver medal to the Team Gold he had received earlier in the week.

These recent feats only added to an already stunning show record, as McQuay was the first reiner in history to reach the two million dollar mark in NRHA Lifetime Earnings. He is also the recipient of the Becky Grand Hart trophy, presented by the USEF. McQuay is passionate about the sport of Reining, a trendsetter and a celebrity in the reining world. You can vote for Tim McQuay before December 30, 2006, by visiting www.usef.org/eoty/index.php.

Mister Nicadual was a member of Team USA at the 2006 WEG in Aachen, Germany. While there, Mister Nicadual earned the Team Gold medal and the Individual Silver medal. Mister Nicadual earned the admiration and affection of thousands through his athleticism, kind disposition and demeanor. During his 3 year show career, the six-year-old Quarter Horse has earned $78,954 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings. You can vote for Mister Nicadual before December 31, 2006, by visiting www.usef.org/hoty/voting/index.php.

Only members active for the 2006 and 2007 competition years will be able to vote for their choice of the 2006 USEF Equestrian of the Year and 2006 USEF Horse of the Year. The winners will be announced at the USEF Annual Meeting January 10-14, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky.
