11.24.06 - 2006 VAQUERO MEDIA AWARDS AT NRHA GATHERING OF LEGENDS RECEPTION

The National Reining Horse Association is pleased to partner with the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum, once again, to present the Vaquero Media Awards in 2006.

Recipients of this year’s awards are Equestrian magazine in the Publications category. Equestrian is the official publication of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) the National Governing Body for Equestrian Sport. The Equestrian’s editor is Brain Sosby. In the Behind the Scenes category, this year’s recipient is Cheryl Magoteaux who originally initiated the Vaquero Media Awards for NRHA. Cheryl has worked tirelessly to promote the performance horse industry, including the sport of Reining. In the Electronic Category, Tru South’s Wide World of Horses will be the recipient of this year’s award. The excitement surrounding the TV Show’s debut on RFD-TV in early 2007, including NRHA Inside Reining, is extraordinary. The Publication Award winner is Tonya Ratliff-Garrison of The American Quarter Horse Journal. You’ll see Tonya’s outstanding features and photographs covering Reining throughout the year in the Journal.

Vaquero Media Award recipients will receive a National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum commissioned Bristol pewter reproduction of Charles Russell’s “Bronco Twister”.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is dedicated to the preservation of the American West while Reining celebrates the traditional western riding skills of the cowboy and his working horse. The Museum and the NRHA have joined to reward those who, through the use of media, inform, celebrate, and educate about the partnership between horse and rider.

The National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum is one of the most unique museums in the world, dedicated to the history and art of the American West. A variety of galleries and exhibits represent an unparalleled range of western art and memorabilia. Special exhibits feature outstanding western individuals from rodeo stars to Hollywood actors. The museum regularly attracts a national audience through events such as the Western Heritage Awards and Prix de West Invitational Art Exhibition and Sale, as well as special events like the Chuck Wagon Gathering and National Children’s Cowboy Festival.

Everyone is invited to attend the Gathering of Legends reception, sponsored by Digital Graphics and the Reining Horse Sports Foundation, on Friday, December 1. Please join us at the NRHA Office at 11:00 a.m.
