11.15.06 - Bidding Now Underway in the First Ever NRHA Sire & Dam Program On-line Auction

For the first time in National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) history, the NRHA Sire & Dam Program is offering its 2007 contracts through an on-line auction. The on-line auction began at noon on November 15 and bids will be taken through December 2. Stallion owners/agents may still submit donations to be included in the on-line auction.

Also new to the 2007 donations is the Top 20 Sires Program, which is part of the NRHA Sire & Dam Program. The Top 20 Sires Program list is comprised of those stallions that appeared in the NRHA 2005 Year in Review - 2005 Leading Sires’ rankings and elect to participate. To participate in the 2007 NRHA Sire & Dam Program, the Top 20 Sires are required to donate at least one breeding to the on-line auction. After the first donation, these stallion owners have the option of donating additional breedings to be sold for 60% of the current year’s breeding fee.

All stallions not on the Top 20 Sires list will have the option of participating in the on-line auction or donating breedings to be sold for 60% of their advertised breeding fee.

The NRHA Sire & Dam Program began in 1966. It is a breeding program supporting the NRHA, and offers significant benefits to the participants. Stallions participating in the Sire & Dam Program are eligible for Futurity and Derby Sire Awards. Mare owners have the opportunity to purchase breedings that they may not otherwise have access to, at reduced rates. NRHA Sire & Dam Program offspring are eligible for reduced entry into the NRHA Futurity & Derby and Sire & Dam Program progeny are eligible for NRHA Sire & Dam Program Offspring Awards at the NRHA Futurity.

Bids can be placed now at www.nrha.com or stop by the NRHA Sire & Dam booth at the Futurity to check out the on-line auction and place your bid!
