The National Reining Horse Association’s Membership Services Department recently issued membership #50000 to Donna Reinarts from Hayfield, Minnesota. Donna is a first time NRHA Non Pro member. She will be going to her first reining show, the NCRHA Extravaganza Show in Winona, Minnesota, March 31-April 1, to compete in the Green As Grass class. Donna will be riding her four-year-old gelding, Heavy On The Haida, which she purchased from her trainer, Steve DeFrang. Future plans for this mother of three and two-time grandmother include Rookie competition and from there, “The sky’s the limit,” says Donna who credits the challenge and excitement of Reining for being responsible for converting the former pleasure rider to the sport of Reining and the National Reining Horse Association.
Membership Services also recorded a significant NRHA Competition License milestone when they licensed #540000, Red Smarties. The daughter of Smart Little Tori by Smart And Chromed is out of Miss History Jess by Sonn Dots Jessie. Red Smarties, a yearling Quarter Horse filly, is owned by Eric Mercier of Lachanale, Quebec, Canada.
These two milestones are indicative of the continued growth and popularity of the sport of Reining and the National Reining Horse Association. It is only fitting as the association celebrates its 40th Anniversary that these milestones were reached.
