“There are many advantages of being involved with the Owners Committee,” said Bill Peel, NRHA Owner’s Committee chair. “Members can make a difference in the quality of the ownership experience by contributing ideas and suggestions. Members can benefit from the shared experiences of owners who have been in the reining horse business for a number of years. Committee participants can feel the satisfaction of giving back to the association so our entire membership benefits. It is a mutually rewarding experience.”
Anyone from the new or seasoned owner to the professional or the Non Pro can participate in and contribute to the Owner’s Committee. The Owner’s Committee is the voice of owners on the NRHA Board.
“The Owner’s Committee is for all levels of owners from first time, single horse owners to experienced owners with large programs,” said Peel. “There will be relevant information for all levels of ownership. With more than 13,000 members, we have owners that span the range from purely recreational to those with significant investment in livestock, training and facilities.”
This year the Owner’s Committee will be posting helpful hints for reining horse owners on the NRHA website at www.nrha.com. They are also continuing last year’s successful NRHA Top 20 Owner’s list and sponsoring jackets for the year end Top 20 Owners.
“The Committee is focusing on three key initiatives – information, recognition and celebration,” said Peel. “On the information front, we are developing materials on questions frequently asked by owners at all levels. This information will be published in a variety of media, most notably on the NRHA website and in an FAQ brochure. The information will also be published in targeted articles in both NRHA and related publications. On the recognition front, we will continue to recognize owners in the Reiner’s Top 20 Owners Gazette and in press releases. At the NRHA Convention we awarded custom-designed jackets to the 2005 Top 20 Owners. The 2006 Convention marks the first year that we have made this recognition. Finally, we will award custom-designed buckles to the Derby and Futurity Champions while working with the Aged Events Committee to enhance the celebration for the owners of the both events.”
The Owner’s Committee is ready to answer owner’s questions. If they can’t answer them, they will find someone who can. Peel and the committee members are eager to meet you.
