“I could not be happier to welcome C.R. into the NRHA Corporate Partner Family,” said Dan Wall, NRHA Executive Director. “In reality, C.R. and Alice have been a part of the NRHA family for years and this just gives us an opportunity to formally recognize and thank them for everything C.R. has done and will continue to do for NRHA and our members.”
C.R. created and sculpted the prestigious NRHA “Morrison Bronze” trophy in 1990. In 2004, he created two new trophies for the NRHA – the NRHA Sire & Dam trophy and the Freestyle bronze.
“I feel proud to be a Corporate Partner of the NRHA,” said C.R. Morrison, owner of CR Morrison Specialties. “I feel that this is a way for me to provide support for an organization that I strongly believe in. My wife and I have a deep personal and professional devotion to the sport of Reining. I enjoy the lifestyle and personal relationships my wife and I have created in the Reining industry.”
Morrison painted and drew before he began his sculpting career more than 40 years ago when a friend encouraged him to try something different. Morrison’s attention to detail, correctness of conformation and real-life quality of his pieces set him apart from the crowd when it comes to trophies.
Morrison has no formal training in painting and sculpting. While others were in a classroom, Morrison was getting real-life experience on his family’s ranch, which has given him enough images to last a lifetime.
“I had always painted and drew,” said Morrison. “In the early 70s, I had a friend who insisted I try sculpture. One time I went to his place and we went to a store and bought clay and wax, and I started working on it to satisfy him.”
“C.R. has a true passion for the sport that rivals the passion seen in his artwork, and I look forward to working with him for many years to come,” said Wall.
