The Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity began on Friday evening November 25, 2005, at the Oklahoma State Fair Park in Oklahoma City. In the first go, first section Tish Fappani, Scottsdale, Arizona, riding her three-year-old stallion Lean Olena (Lean With Me x BR Little Badger), scored a 215 to take the lead in the $50,000 added Non Pro Division. Bernie Paetzel, New Vienna, Ohio, scored a 214.5 on his Toriana Dun It (Mr Tori Kid x Dunits Reining Heir) placing him second in the Non Pro Division and first in the $15,000 added Intermediate Non Pro Division.
Matt Armenta, Whitesboro, Texas, guided Sweet Magnum Dream (Magnum Chic Dream x JS Sweet N Low) to a score of 213, to place second in the Intermediate Non Pro Division and first in the $5,000 added Limited Non Pro Division. Matt is having an exceptional Futurity. He is also sitting second in the Division on Smarty Montana (Hesa Smart Chic x Montanas Playgirl). The Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity continues through Tuesday, November 29, with a clean slate finals on Friday afternoon and evening, December 2.
At the completion of the first go round, second section of the NRHA Open Futurity, the leaders of the $100,000 added Open divisions remained the same. Shawn Flarida’s score of 223 on KR Lil Conquistador (Conquistador Whiz x Smart Little Prize) owned by Cheree Kirkbride, Ocala, Florida, held for first place; Tanya Jenkins’ score of 222.5 on Las Cruces Whiz (Topsail Whiz x Shining Bubbles) owned by Manntana LLC, Las Vegas, Nevada, kept Tanya in the second place slot.
Tanya maintained her lead in the $25,000 added Intermediate Open Division on Las Cruces Whiz, however Casey Hinton scored a 218 on Paid By Corona (Paid By Chic x Hobbys Bonney Boss), owned by Tom and Betty Donato, Mesa, Arizona, to move into second place in this Division.
Casey Deary and Martin Muehlstaetter remained tied for first place in the $5,000 added Limited Open Division. Casey rode Ciscos Roan Ranger (Cisco Lena x Changabang) owned by Alison and Harry Courtice of Weatherford, Texas. Martin rode Hollywood China Chic (Hollywood Dun It x Smart China Doll) owned by Terri Hendricks, Tioga, Texas, and Karen Adair, Mesa, Arizona.
This Futurity is an extraordinary milestone for the National Reining Horse Association. It is the 40th Anniversary of the Futurity, NRHA’s premier event for three-year-old reining horses and the Open Division Champion, determined by the clean slate finals scheduled for Saturday evening, December 3,is guaranteed a paycheck of $125,000.
In addition to the NRHA Futurity and Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity, the 2005 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show will host a full slate of NRHA ancillary classes, the North American Affiliate Championships, a CRIO International team competition, three premium sales and a host of special events including the annual Clinton Anderson Clinic slated for Saturday, December 3 at 10:00 a.m.
