With a guaranteed purse of over $184,000, the first ever NRHA approved Italian Futurity opened in Manerbio at the Palasturla on Monday 14th November. More than 350 horses made their way to the Italian facility in order to take part in the Futurity itself and in the ancillary classes.
Opening the event was the first go round of the Futurity which took place on Monday 14 and Tuesday 15. Leading the Open division was Dario Carmignani who, riding Polly Potter (Arc Antares Surprise x Misty Speedy Glo) owned by the Polly Potter Syndicate, scored a 220.5.
The highest score, a 219, in the first go round of the Intermediate Open division was clenched by Nicola Brunelli riding RS Bon Ton Jac (McJac Flash x NMSU Bonitas Jo) owned by Bernard/Risso. Leading the first go of the Limited Open was Martin Gumper who, with RS Dry Jaba (Dry Doc Alejos x Docs Jabalena) owned by Nicola Fabbiani, scored a 215.5.
In the Non Pro division Claudio Risso and RS Hollywood HGLO (McJac Flash x Harlan Glo) took the lead with a score of 216. The Limited Non Pro division saw Giacomo Ronchi riding Frozen Cross (Frozen Sailor x Tremendous Cross) leading with a score of 212, while in the Intermediate Non Pro division, Matteo Rondanina riding Kits Scoots (Kit Dual x Dry Scoots) and Guglielmo Fontana riding Smart Dottie (Arc Tora Tora x Alexa Cal Bar) both scored a 213 and were seen on top of the list following the first go.
The second go round takes place on Wednesday 16 with the finals scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening – Limited Open & Limited Non Pro, Intermediate Open & Intermediate Non Pro and Open respectively.
