World renown equine trainer, clinician and host of “Downunder Horsemanship,” Clinton Anderson is joining the National Reining Horse Association in celebrating their 40th Futurity. Anderson will conduct a clinic on ground-work techniques with his trademark Aussie style and finesse, which will be free to all youth.
Anderson’s clinic will run during the NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, in Barn 6 at State Fair Park in Oklahoma City, Okla. He will be joined by Oklahoma’s, Bob Loomis, a six-time NRHA Futurity Champion and NRHA Hall of Famer from Marietta, Okla. Loomis will be demonstrating his winning reining maneuvers.
Anderson was born and raised in Australia where his family recognized his natural ability with horses, buying his first horse at 9 years old. Anderson’s interest in horses soared when he began attending horsemanship clinics at age 12. In April 2001, Anderson became the first horse trainer to launch a made-for-television program on satellite television. In “Downunder Horsemanship,” Anderson often uses untrained horses to educate viewers on a variety of topics, covering common problems horse owners face, making his show RFD-TV’s most popular equine program.
Tickets for the clinic are $25 and can be purchased at the gate in the coliseum or through www.nrha.com. A ticket to the clinic will not only get visitors into the clinic, but will also provide admission to Reining competition all day. Youth who show their membership card or wear clothing showing their affiliation to a youth organization get into the clinic free. Visitors will be able to stop by the Futurity Prospect Sale in Barn 3 and stay to watch the opening ceremonies and the world finest Reining competition in the Open Futurity Finals.
