Lisa Coulter and Robert Thompson will be representing Canada in the 2005 FEI World Reining Masters finals presented by the Arcese Group and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE).Based in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada, where she runs her own facility Lisa Coulter has been training horses professionally for the past eleven years both in Canada and in the States. A Congress and Southwest Futurity Finalist, Coulter has been competing successfully in the Canadian reining circuit this year winning nine championships and four reserve championships in Open, Limited Open and Novice Horse Open competition. The 34-year-old trainer is proud to be able to represent her country in the FEI World Reining Masters Series finals, an achievement reached thanks to the first and second place she earned in the Canadian qualifying CRI held last July during the Prince George Ride N Slide show aboard Listo Pollito Lena and Jalapeno Peppy respectively.
Just as proud to be able to represent Canada is Robert Thompson (56). Robert has been breeding and showing Quarter Horses for over 20 years and is a multiple NRHA Bronze trophy winner, a finalist at the AQHA World Show in Amateur Reining, an NRHA Derby finalist and a past Canadian Amateur Reining Champion. Past president of the Quarter Horse Association of Alberta and of Reining Canada, Robert is a member of the FEI Reining Committee.
Lisa and Robert will be joining athletes from around world in the finals of the prestigious competition which will be held on Saturday 24th September at 9 pm in Manerbio, Italy. This coming weekend who will be representing the USA and Great Britain will be determined. On August 28th, France will be hosting the last qualifying CRI.
Based on qualifying the best reiner from each National Federation for a final event which alternates between the USA and Europe, the FEI World Reining Masters Series finals offer a $75,000 Open and a $25,000 Restricted division. The first is open to all riders, the Restricted division is only open to those countries who did not qualify for the finals at the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG) held in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, therefore U.S.A, Canada, Great Britain, Italy and Germany are only able to compete in the Open division and will be allowed to send two riders, all other countries are eligible to compete with one qualified rider.
The second edition of the $100,000 FEI World Reining Masters Series presented by the Arcese Group and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) is an event organized in collaboration with the Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA), the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).
