The Belgian qualifying CRI for the $100,000 2005 FEI World Reining Masters Series presented by the Arcese Group and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) was held on August 12th at the Pandoeve Facility in Baal- Tremelo (Bel) in conjunction with the Cras Continental Cup, an AQHA, NRHA and NSBA sanctioned show. By taking both the lead and reserve honours, Bernard Fonk qualified for the finals of the second edition of the FEI World Reining Masters Series. Fonk is married to Belgium’s highest NRHA money earner, Ann Poels, who represented her country in the finals of the first edition of the Series last year which was held in Oklahoma City during the NRHA Futurity.
Bernard will be joining athletes from around the world who will be getting together in Manerbio, Italy, at the Palasturla Facility for the prestigious and much awaited for finals slated for Saturday 24th at 9 pm. Qualifiers from Austria, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Mexico, The Netherlands, Norway, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and U.S.A. after a year’s worth of qualifying CRIs will have a chance to ride head to head for the much coveted FEI medals. Based on qualifying the best reiner from each National Federation for a final event which alternates between the USA and Europe, the FEI World Reining Masters Series finals offer a $75,000 Open and a $25,000 Restricted division. The first is open to all riders, the Restricted division is only open to those countries who did not qualify for the finals at the 2002 World Equestrian Games (WEG) held in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, therefore U.S.A, Canada, Great Britain, Italy and Germany are only able to compete in the Open division and will be allowed to send two riders, all other countries are eligible to compete with one qualified rider.
The second edition of the $100,000 FEI World Reining Masters Series presented by the Arcese Group and the Italian Equestrian Sports Federation (FISE) is an event organized in collaboration with the Italian Reining Horse Association (IRHA), the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA), the Reining Horse Sports Foundation (RHSF) and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).
