07.25.05 - Fiesta in the Park Benefits Reining Industry

The beautiful Kentucky Horse Park is the backdrop for a first of its kind Reining competition, Fiesta in the Park, which will provide direct financial support to the Reining Horse Sports Foundation. Fiesta in the Park will host the Adequan® / United States Equestrian Federation Open Reining Championship next month. The show runs from August 24 through August 28. Fiesta in the Park is also a quality venue for hosting the USEF Championships, as well as a full-slate of ancillary classes where all levels of horses and riders can compete.

“The Reining Horse Sports Foundation is incredibly grateful to be a recipient of the proceeds from Fiesta in the Park,” said Frank Costantini, president. “This partnership strengthens our sport by helping us put the infrastructure in place to make Reining truly universal. Once we accomplish that, our position as the fourth equestrian discipline at the Olympic Games is tremendously improved.”

The Kentucky Horse Park is a leader in the bidding for the 2010 World Equestrian Games, and this Reining event, held concurrently with a hunter-jumper show, will help boost the Park’s chances of hosting the WEG in the United States by presenting a multiple discipline show in the park.

“Individuals and companies involved in the Reining world can show their support by coming on board as sponsors for the event,” Costantini said. “Doing so furthers worldwide competition of our sport while supporting the industry’s foundation through the RHSF.”

The Fiesta combines international competitors with grassroots riders, Costantini continued, making the event one that shows the diversity of the Reining world by providing a venue that brings all integral parts of the sport together.

Costantini noted, “As an exhibitor, owner or fan, you may be a part of this show, and a part of Reining history. Your support as a Fiesta Sponsor benefits Reining projects across the globe.”

Fiesta organizers noted that plans are firming up for the show and the schedule includes tours of the Park, some of the great Thoroughbred farms and the historic facility of bourbon maker Woodford Reserve. Action gets underway on Wednesday, August 24, with the Fiesta Maturity for 4-year-olds.
