Like the show itself, the three premier sales held at the 2004 NRHA Futurity & North American Affiliate Championship Show were a huge success.

NRHA Prospect Sale

The NRHA Futurity Prospect Sale attracted a large international contingency as reining fans gathered to look for tomorrow’s champions. The high seller was Twisty Starlight, a sorrel colt by Grays Starlight. This two-year-old was consigned by Rhodes River Ranch and purchased by Connie Leaverson of Arvada, Colorado, for $132,000.

The second highest selling horse was Reminics Bullseye, consigned by Travis Stillson and McAnally Quarter Horses. The sorrel Reminic colt brought $105,000 and was sold to Cable Creek Ranch of Aurora, Oregon. The third prospect into the sale ring, a dun colt by Hollywood Dun It, was raised by Tim and Colleen McQuay. Dun Its Manhatten sold for $100,000 to Manntana LLC of Las Vegas, Nevada.

NRHA Breeders Showcase Select Yearling Sale

The high selling yearling was Markem Starlight, a beautiful sorrel colt by Grays Starlight. Consigned by Polo Ranch, Marietta, Oklahoma, the colt sold for $54,500 to Donna Kelley of Valley Center, California.

Polo Ranch also brought the second highest seller to Oklahoma City. The pretty sorrel filly by Grays Starlight was sold to James Gelhaus of Townsend, Montana, for $36,500. The third highest selling horse, Sparkling Likea Whiz, a palomino filly by Topsail Whiz, was consigned by Clinton Anderson and sold to Wallis Winegar of Aubrey, Texas, for $32,000.

NRHA Breeders Showcase Elite Broodmare & Show Horse Sale

Tom Dean of Alpharetta, Georgia, went home with the high seller; Super Little Lena, a 1988 mare by Doc O’Lena bred to Smart Chic Olena. Consigned by Jim Babcock of Babcock Ranch, she sold for $98,000.

The second highest seller of the day was Sonata Starlight, a 1994 sorrel mare by Grays Starlight consigned by DN Quarter Horses.
