Samantha Griffin, Alberta, Canada, brought all three of her entries to the NRHA Cinch Non Pro Futurity Finals held on December 4th at the State Fair Park in Oklahoma City and earned over $45,000 for her outstanding effort. The lion’s share of earnings came from her first place victory aboard A Bright Chic (Peppy Chic Olena x Genuine Starbright). Samantha and her good gelding earned the guaranteed $35,000 for her win. This talented rider tied for sixth place, earning $7,758.21 on JD Whizkey (Topsail Whiz x JD Milligan) and an 18th place paycheck of $2,868.20 on Chic Olena Whiz (Smart Chic Olena x This Chex On Top). All three horses are owned by Sam’s father, Lance Griffin, who placed Mr Strawberry Chic (Peppy Chic Olena x Ms Lindy Roanstad) in a tie for sixth!

Lisa Cover, riding her own Mr Chocoholic (Chocolate Chic Olena x Lady Bee Great) was just a half point behind Samantha in the Cinch NRHA Non Pro Finals. Lisa Earned $22,594.64 for the Reserve Championship.

Tamra Kyle rode her Playin The Doctor (Tejons Peppy Doc x Palacios Playgirl) to a score of 213.5 - good enough to win the Intermediate Non Pro Division, just a half point ahead of Dylan Pond riding Dennis Pond’s Whiz N Chex N Jac (Whiz N Chex x Jac Olena).Â

The Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity had two qualifying go rounds and a clean slate finals. The composite of the two initial go rounds determined the winner of the Limited Non Pro Division, which was won by Matteo Arcese, Verona, Italy, riding ARC Magic Enterprise (Surprise Enterprise x Diamonds Ms Topsail) owned by Arcese Quarter Horses, U.S.A. Matteo is the youngest son of NRHA Hall of Famer Eleuterio Arcese, the first European member of that prestigious group.

Scott Fisher placed second in the Division on Buenos Wild Child (Bueno Chex Willie x Dixies Wild Child). Both riders qualified for the Non Pro and Intermediate Non Pro Finals. Scott earned an addition paycheck for his fourth place tie in the Intermediate and 14th place tie in the Non Pro division. Mateo placed seventh in the Intermediate and 19th in the Non Pro divisions.

Dr. Jim Morgan, riding Hesa Friendly, won both the Prime Time Non Pro Division (for riders over 50 years of age) and the Non Pro Gelding Incentive Award on Hesa Friendly, a gelded son of Hesa Smart Chic and out of Seduction.
