The NRHA Futurity consists of two qualifying go rounds with the leaders advancing to their clean slate finals, with the exception of the Limited, Gelding Incentive, and Prime Time divisions, which are determined by the composite scores from the first and second go rounds.  The second go round, first section began on Monday, November 29th with NRHA Hall of Famer and Million Dollar Rider Tim McQuay logging the highest score.   Tim worked his magic with the Sorcerers Apprentice earning a 223 for his efforts.  Sorcerers Apprentice (Gunner [APHA Colonels Smokingun] x Anniegityergun [APHA GS Anniegityergun]) is owned by Tim and his wife, Colleen.  Much to the delight of an enthusiastic audience, Troy Heikes scored a 222.5 on Sally Brown’s Malt Whizkey (Topsail Whiz x Jacs Maple Sugar) and is sitting second in this section.  Heikes has the highest composite score to date: 442.5

Brent Loseke is on top of the Intermediate Open Futurity leader board with a 216.5 earned on H. Melinda Poole’s Justa Little Twisted (Dun It With A Twist x Buco Little Bit). Brad Giesbrecht scored a 215 on Mary Elizabeth Cartier’s Fudge Pop (Topsail Whiz x Dun It For Chex) to place second in this Intermediate Open section. Bub Poplin has the highest composite score to date, 435.5, earned on Starlights Starbrite (Grays Starlight x Melody Lena) owned by the Gately Living Trust.

Cinch NRHA Non Pro Futurity

Mandy McCutcheon earned the top score of the day in the Non Pro Division on her Dun It Some Moore (Hollywood Dun It x Jameen Chick).  With a very even, consistent pattern, Mandy earned a 216.  Lance Griffin is sitting in a tie for second with a score of 214.5 earned on Mr Strawberry Chic (Peppy Chic Olena x Ms Lindy Roanstad) with Dr. Jim Morgan on Hesa Friendly (Hesa Smart Chic x Seduction). Morgan is leading the Non Pro composite standings with a 433.

In the Intermediate Non Pro Division, Scott Fisher is leading the section on Buenos Wild Child (Bueno Chex Willie x Dixies Wild Child) with a 213.5.  Jessicah Keller earned the second highest score of 212.5 on Pica Peppy Doc (Tejons Peppy Doc x Okie Pam Pam).  Both riders have composite scores of 425.5 and are the leaders to date in this Division.  Scott’s 213.5 put him on top of the leader board in the Limited Non Pro section and his composite of 425.5 is leading that Division as well.  Matthew Armenta’s score of 211.5 was the second highest score logged in the Limited Non Pro Futurity on Monday.
