04.21.04 - Gallo Del Cielo Becomes NRHA Million Dollar Sire

Achieving NRHA Million Dollar Sire status has become a pivotal point for the stallions that reach the distinction.  For the stallion, and those associated with him, a new respect and position within the performance horse industry quickly becomes evident.  The National Reining Horse Association is pleased to announce that Gallo Del Cielo, a.k.a. “Rooster,” recently reached this milestone, becoming the ninth standout stallion to earn NRHA Million Dollar Sire status.  Rooster is most often associated with the well-known Polo Ranch; both are owned by The Joseph & Karalyn Revocable Trust.

Superstars by Gallo Del Cielo include Ricochet Rooster, the 2000 NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion with $148,290.05 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings and Roosters Wrangler, the 1999 NRHA Open Futurity Reserve Champion with $125,6656.21 to his credit. Both horses were ridden by Todd Bergen.  Rooster’s offspring have also been successful in Non Pro competition. Mild N Wild, the 1997 Non Pro Futurity Reserve Champion ridden by Dr. Jim Morgan, added $48,562.65 to Rooster’s tally of sire earnings.  Peeko Del Cielo, presently owned and shown by Robert Rosenfeld in Limited Non Pro competition, has $49,481.68 in NRHA Lifetime Earnings.  St Paddys Rooster, owned by Vaughan Zimmerman and ridden by Todd Sommers, has earnings approaching the $40,000 mark.  With only three shows on his resume, Lena Gallo, owned by Lapke Quarter Horses and ridden by Brent Wright, has NRHA Lifetime Earnings of $38,133.91.  Roosters Tru Luck, owned by David Zimmerman and ridden by Brazilian horseman Thiago Boechat, earned $50,995.97 at the 2003 NRHA Futurity by placing in all three Open divisions. It’s no surprise that Gallo Del Cielo recently achieved the distinction.

The 1989 bay stallion is by Peppy San Badger and out of Docs Starlight by Doc Bar, a cross that has proven to be magical, resulting in a stellar family of breeding horses.  Rooster’s offspring added to the magic when their accomplishments earned Gallo Del Cielo one of NRHA’s most distinctive honors - NRHA Million Dollar Sire. Congratulations!
