05.30.02 - NRHA Holds First-Ever Show Management Seminar

The National Reining Horse Association held its first-ever Show Management Seminar in The Netherlands. The seminar, conducted by NRHA Show Department Administrator Debbie Drinko, was held in Vorstenbosch, Netherlands, on April 28.

According to NRHA International Committee Chairman Dave Young, the seminar, which followed an NRHA Judges Applicant Seminar conducted by NRHA Judges Committee Chairman Ollie Griffith, was a huge success. The Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria, and England were all represented by the 29 attendees.

Young, along with Nic Cornelissens of Belgium, and Gerd Mutscheller of Germany, assisted in conducting the seminar.

Drinko led the group as they discussed and informed the audience about such topics as the process for show approval, hiring judges, procedures the day of the show, and how to submit results back to the NRHA, among others. “It was a great opportunity to introduce the international reining community to the NRHA office and the advantages and simplicity of NRHA Show Approval,” she commented.

She continued, “We’re glad to have had the opportunity to assist our new and future show management personnel in hosting successful reining competitions. Because we have had many requests for similar training in the United States, future plans include offering show management seminars in other locations.”
